ROUND 3: MARTA LAPEÑA
Title: “The everyday”
His current artistic production arises from a shocking moment lived that he cannot avoid leaving reflected in his work.
The passage of time and the impossible reconstruction of something lived, the reunion with his memories makes him reflect on our nature, our purposes and the forced uprooting of the past that this causes.
Social relationships, everyday situations and his own relationship with the subject or environment represented makes him create static a priori images that simulate being in a disturbing environment and with life, nature and a sense of calm is what he tries to capture.
Therefore “the everyday” is the expression of these experiences that conclude, in this case, in the final image.
The artist
Plastic artist and muralist.
After graduating in Interior Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, he decided by vocation to devote himself to painting and research and knowledge of different techniques, later focusing on the conception and development of artistic projects. His career includes participation in different galleries, art fairs, cultural centers and urban art festivals.
His work is situated between painting and muralism, sometimes materialized in specific projects and others in more experimental proposals. His work is innately influenced by everyday life experiences, people he has met, behaviors he has witnessed, and social and issues that concern him, such as the depopulation of rural areas, inequality and violence.
In short, he seeks, through art, equality at all levels: social, cultural and natural, the absolute social component being the protagonist of his work.
