Exhibitions 12+1 project
The 12 + 1 project that has been developed in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Barcelona and Sant Vicenç dels Horts has two different parts: 12 artist mural interventions and a final exhibition with studio work by the participating artists.
This exhibition is always held in the same city and in a municipal art or exhibition center close to the space that we painted in during that edition. This exhibition serves to deepen into the work of the artists of the project showing another face of their work, the part held in the studio towards the murals. It is important for us to convey that the participating artists are not two-dimensional and that they not only make graffiti or murals but are also illustrators, designers, sculptors … and that they have a solid job and a consolidated career.
The exhibition also allows us to get closer to the local public who have enjoyed the mural interventions and want to know a little more about other aspects of the artist. However, it is a project clearly oriented to the generation of new local audiences for culture.
Objectives and considerations
– Give participating artists the opportunity to show their studio work at a municipal art or exhibition center.
– Take advantage of the connection established with the local public through the murals to encourage their attendance at the municipal exhibition hall, usually with a very low capacity of attraction on average.
– Generate new cultural interests among the local population with an eclectic and varied exhibition that reflects the current state of urban art, muralism and graffiti.
– Curating a quality exhibition that can also attract non-local audiences due to the interest that participating artists can generate. Establish a program of guided visits to neighbors, organizations and local educational centers free of charge.
